38 weeks 5 days and nursery pics
Here I am in all of my glory... the same exact gestation as I was when Jack was born. Is it sad that I look back to my 18 week belly shot and think "gosh, I used to be so thin!!". Maybe one day eh?
Here is the nursery as it stands today. All of the hardware is hung and just waiting for either pink or blue accessories. The pink stuff you see is mainly just to help Dave hang the quilt clips and get things in place. We found all of this cute surfer stuff for a boy at a local furniture store. I have a feeling there will be a lot of retail shopping come this time tomorrow :)

All set
I went to the OB today to sign my consents and get the paperwork to take to the hospital. I'm going in tomorrow to do the routine bloodwork and all that and then we'll head over to L&D at about 7:30 am on Friday!! Everyone is coming over on Thursday night and will bring Jack over Friday to see his new brother or sister arrive. He alternates between saying the baby is a boy or a girl..... but he does add "we don't know.... boy or a girl, we don't know". It's the cutest thing. He and Daddy went to Target today and bought the baby a gift from big brother. The baby and I went shopping to get Jack something b/c as my OB wisely told me "babies come home bearing gifts". We'll see how both of them like their presents Monday!!!

Surprise shower

Jack and I went to playgroup today and were surprised with a joint baby shower for Theresa and me (she's due in November). They had yummy petit fors and lots of presents. Too bad I had just literally finished cleaning the house and looked like a day laborer!! The baby got lots of diapers and toys and we couldn't be more touched by the sentiment. What sweet friends I have. Here are the girls in the playgroup.... Jennifer, Christine, me, Theresa, and Sonya.

Chubby cheeks
We had our last u/s today and baby's head is measuring 40 weeks and the chest is measuring 41 weeks (big surprise huh?). Everything looks great and they estimated that the baby is around 8 lbs 12 oz....... but don't buy it b/c I was told Jack was "8 lb 8 oz" at 37 weeks and he was born 2 weeks later at 8 lb 4 oz. The baby had the chubbiest little cheecks and rosebud lips. I can't wait to kiss them! The u/s tech also saw a head full of hair breezing around in the amniotic fluid. We have 10 days to go and we can't wait!

Where's my missing beachball?
No I'm not hiding it under my shirt, this is actually my belly these days! It's official.... I'm miserable. I'm waddling, have heartburn like crazy, my pelvis feels like it's going to rip in half at any moment, I'm hot..... I really don't need to go on because the list is endless. Here is my belly at one day shy of 37 weeks. Full term. Maybe Jackie Chan will take a hint and hit the road before the 31st now that it's safe. Probably not though. Here are the buttons I made tonight for those attending the birth. We'll see just who was right and who wasn't in 2 weeks!!! Tell me what your prediction is.

36 weeks
No changes to report this week. Still 1 cm dilated and I'm thinking we just might make it to the 31st afterall. I really hate that it's 112 degrees outside but I'm making do. I got a mani/pedi today and my hospital bag is packed. We are ready for little Jackie Chan's arrival and can't wait to see if we'll be on the blue or pink team :)

35 weeks
Here is the latest pic. I'm already dilating and have lost my mucous plug...... don't know if that means anything or not but I've had to go to L&D twice now to stop pre-term labor. Nothing even remotely close to this happened during my pg with Jack so we'll see if Jackie Chan comes before Aug. 31st!!!

Another trip to L&D
Jackie Chan is trying to show us all who is boss! I went for a regular OB appt. today and found out that I was nearly 1cm dilated (much to my surprise since I never did dilate a bit with Jack). After that I started having contractions every 3 minutes and they didn't really slow down after I took my medicine to stop them. Off to L&D I went just to make sure all was well. Sure enough, I was still having contractions every 5 minutes when I got there so I got another shot of Brethine to knock them out. I'm home now and not on bedrest or anything.... just will continue taking my medicine like a good girl for a couple of more weeks. I can't wait to meet the little person causing me so much grief already!!!!

Breech!
I just got back from the OB and I'm not having any more contractions...... very good news! I do have to keep taking the Brethine until 37 weeks just in case though. I asked my Dr. what position the baby was in and he felt the butt down low in my pelvis. Little Jackie Chan is breech and that explains why I see my stomach contort all hours of the day. I felt elbows and such with Jack but this baby has been making my stomach jerk for weeks now. That cracks me up and explains sooooo much. I go back to the Dr. on Aug. 6th and will likely set my c-section date for the original Sept. 4th.

Trip to L&D
It's just fitting that I'd have to make a trip to L&D with this pg since I went twice with Jack. I'm 33 weeks and have been having braxton hicks contractions off and on for weeks now. I guess most of it stems from lugging a 30 lb toddler around and dealing with staying hydrated in this fine heat. Last night however I started to get really intense conractions and began throwing up so we went to the hospital to get checked out. I got two doses of Brethane to stop the contractions last night. I followed up with my OB this morning and was still contracting so now I've been put on an oral dose of Brethane and bedrest till Thursday. I'll get monitored again and we'll see how everything is looking. The good news is that Jackie Chan is moving around like crazy and was doing great on the monitor last night and today. This baby is definitely an active little thing and now everyone else gets to see just how much he/she is!!!

30 weeks
This little baby is on the move. I can never quite tell how he/she is positioned and right when I do figure it out.... it changes! I'm pretty sure the baby was laying transverse (sideways) when I took this picture. We made a run to Target to buy bottles and other baby items this afternoon and sure enough the baby flipped while I was pushing the cart. Hurt like the dickens. I thought I was having Braxton Hicks contractions it hurt so badly. Now I'm at home with my feet propped up again and plan to stay here for a while. Little Jackie Chan sure lives up to it's name.....
PS- Think I'm carrying differently than I did with Jack? I feel like I am but maybe that's just be JC never stays in one spot.

Third trimester!!!
Here is my 27 week belly shot. Grown alot in 4 weeks huh!?! Gotta love second pregnancies and those already-loosened ab muscles! I'm still getting around fairly well and can still sleep comfortably in bed. I get occasional heartburn if I eat something acidic after dinner, but otherwise feel ok. Hot yes, but ok. Baby (aka Jackie Chan) kicks me constantly and has lessened up on kicking my bladder to some degree. You can actually see my stomach shake when Jackie Chan kicks. I'm also starting to feel body parts brushing past my stomach..... it will only be time before I can *see* body parts kicking me. Yikes!

22 weeks!
We had our level II ultrasound today and baby has grown soooooo very much from last time 12 weeks ago. Hard to believe that much time has passed! The baby is head up right now and affectionately kicking my bladder non-stop. Gotta love it. The estimated weight is 1 lb 3 oz and a heartrate of 153 today. I actually got 2 ultrasounds b/c I asked for pictures of the baby and tech told me to come back for more shots. They apparently put all of the images on a disk now so it was easier for her to take more pictures than to print them up from a disk. Lucky me! Jack enjoyed seeing the baby but quickly lost interest and favored playing with a lightbulb on the exam table. Everything looks great with the baby, good heart, kidneys and a nice melon head already. Can't deny this one is a Hadskey!!
Edited to add: the top set of pictures are the profile of the baby and the bottom two are the head and one foot!

A step in the right direction
Now that Jack is out of the crib and in his big boy bed, the crib is all moved in to baby's room and ready to go! For so long the spare room has been nothing but a junk room and occasionally "Mama's" room for when she visited. Seeing the crib in there with the glider really hits the point home that in a few months our new addition will be here. Now seeing the surfer girl bedding that I had purchased over a year ago does NOT mean that we have found out anything....... we still don't know the sex. I just have a strong hunch that this is a girl and have cute accessories that I purchased in Key West last year that I put out. We're going with a surfer theme for boy or girl.......... so I'll just have more shopping to do if "Jill" is a "John". :) Nothing is coming out of the package unless we bring a baby sister home in September!

18 weeks
I went in for my 18 week visit and heard baby's heartbeat again. It was fast, as usual, but I told my OB that it means nothing to me since Jack's heartbeat was always in the 160's........ so the old wive's tale was out the window for him!
I scheduled my level II ultrasound for May 7th and will have to look away when the nether-regions are being shown!!! We can't wait to see the baby again and view how much he/she has changed from 10 weeks.
Here is my 18 week belly shot. Definitely showing, carrying high just like with Jack. I swear my babies must love to hang out in my ribs b/c it looks like this one is headed there just like big brother two years ago! I am also feeling the baby kick (feels like little taps or a fish flipping in there) but it is not flutters anymore. I love it!

14 weeks
I went for my 14 week visit today and commenced the ultra fast visits. I did hear the heartbeat on doppler and that was great! Little baby was pretty easy to find and it was reassuring to hear the heart beating away. This time of pregnancy is always tricky- I feel better but don't feel movement yet......... so I have to keep reminding myself that I'm pregnant (like the fact that my pants are tight doesn't cut it).
My next visit is April 10th. A couple weeks after that we'll get another ultrasound but we won't be finding out the sex!

It's official!
We had our first ultrasound today and we saw a strong heartbeat (164) and a bigger baby than we expected! I was thinking I would see a gummy bear like I did with Jack, but this baby actually looked like a baby, complete with kicking legs and waving arms. They moved my due date up 3 days but I will still have a c-section on Sept. 4th as planned. I'm sending Jack to school tomorrow with his "I'm the big brother" shirt that Aunt Jen sent him to announce the good news to his teachers.

Well...........
I'm entering unchartered territory....... I'm pregnant with our second child. We found out on New Year's Eve. I was the designated driver that night and couldn't have been happier. December was such stressful month so this was a welcome surprise. We're due right around Labor Day and are not going to find out the sex of this baby. It started out as a surprise and will end as one too!!
